The Centre for Counselling & Therapy

The Centre for Counselling & Therapy is a group of several psychologists and a social worker who provide a variety of services and approaches for working with people.

Sandra Wieland, PhD., a registered clinical psychologist and play therapist, has worked extensively with children, adolescents, and adults who experience distress, anxiety, dissociation or trauma. She blends cognitive, behavioural and EMDR therapies within a psychodynamic approach. Before moving to Victoria, she was founder and clinical director of the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma in Ottawa. She has presented workshops across Canada, the U.S., and in Europe. She has written several books and articles for therapists.

Sandra Wieland

Margaret Stephens, MSW, registered clinical social worker, has extensive experience in counseling, mental health issues and psychotherapy. Practicing since 1979, she is licenced as a private practitioner with the BC Association of Social Workers. She has worked exclusively with women and female adolescents for many years and has particular expertise guiding women with trauma histories, low self-esteem, anger and depression. She blends parts work, EMDR, and Somatic Experiencing with a psychodynamic approach. She has present at training workshops in Ontario and British Columbia.

Margaret Stephens

Cinder Woods, M.A., registered psychologist, has worked in BC since 1977.  Her work has focused on supporting families in which children and youth are experiencing behavioural and emotional difficulties.  Her approach is grounded in the principles of child and family development and includes cognitive and behavioural therapies, to which Cinder adds practicality and humour as she assists people in resolving their issues.  She has also developed and provided a variety of workshops for parents and for youth, recognizing that families not only encounter many of the same problems, but also that they can learn and gather strength from each other in addressing their challenges.
