Professional CredentialsAfter receiving my doctoral training at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada, and clinical training at the University of Ottawa, I completed clinical internships at Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and the Child Study Centre at the University of Ottawa. Additional Experience
I have received specialized training in working with children and adults who have experienced neglect, abuse, and dissociation. I am trained in the use of EMDR (Level I and Level II) In addition, I have attended workshops providing training in cognitive and behavioural therapies, play therapy, attachment, and brain functioning. I meet regularly with colleagues in a play therapy consultation group and in an adult therapy consultation group to consider particularly difficult cases.
Awards In 1996 I received the Women of Distinction Award for contribution in the area of Health, Science & Technology in Ottawa. In 1999, I received a grant from the Association of University & Colleges of Canada to travel to Estonia and Latvia and provide training for child therapist in those countries. In 2001, I received a grant from the Queen Alexandra Foundation and the Victoria Foundation to establish the Stopping the Cycle Program for children with sexually intrusive behaviours and their parents.
